15 minutes of fame

OK so maybe not "fame," but I was retweeted by Jim Gaffigan ( the "Hot Pockets guy").  That's a big accomplishment for me.

So, he wrote a book coming out in May that's called "Dad is Fat."  He did a whole pre-order thing where if you filled out a form with the order information you got some excerpts and things.  Well, I did all that and got two nice excerpts from the book and a mask with his face on it.  I took a picture of myself with the mask and sent out a tweet to Mr. Gaffigan and asked him to be my Valentine (there was a whole letter about Valentine's Day included.)

Well he retweeted me, which means that his 1.5 million followers saw that picture and a bunch of people "favorited" it (twit speak for "like") and now about 10 people who I don't know follow me on Twitter.

I'm still flabbergasted that JIM GAFFIGAN retweeted something of mine.  That means he saw what I wrote, liked it, and sent it out to his followers.  It's the coolest thing that's happened to me with regards to a celebrity.

P.S.  On a different note, I didn't get the job. Trying to stay positive...I'll let you know how that goes...

Praying on the way to work

I haven't really truly prayed in a while. This morning my head was filled with anger at the state of church and what it has done to my family, trepidation about the interview, discontent with my current job. So many disquieting feelings. I simply thought, 'God, please send me some kind of sign.' I changed the radio station and a song by Swedish House Mafia was on. The chorus goes like this:

"Don't you worry,
don't you worry child.
See heavens got a plan for you."

Yeah.

Interview with a Social Worker...

Ok so my interview wasn't with a social worker, but I was going for a movie title spoof, and "Principal and Early Childhood Special Education Teacher" wasn't as succinct.

The point is, I had an interview on Friday.  I'm cautiously hopeful because of my experience and education, but that's about it.

Prayers, good thoughts, wishes on shooting stars/birthday candles, and virtual hugs appreciated.

2013

"A new year, a new you!"

I really hate that phrase.  And since I work at a health club, I see a lot of that phrase and it's ilk around this time of year.  I also hate this time of year because of everyone's resolution to lose weight/be fitter/be healthier.  The gym is ridiculously busy with one-timers and people who just pretend to work out.

On that note, I'm sure you're probably asking, "EJ, what are your goals for 2013?"
Well I'm glad you asked!

Get a job
I'm better than where I work, and I know it.  I just need to act on it more diligently.

Drink more water and less coffee
I'm pretty sure the second part is unattainable.

That's pretty much it.  Anything else is just setting myself up for failure.  Don't need any more of that, thank you.
